Two firefighters in the New York fire department have been identified as the victims of an ambush on New Year’s Eve.
The New York Fire Department tweeted early Wednesday that a man and a woman were shot and killed in their vehicle, which was parked on a Brooklyn street early Wednesday morning.
Firefighters identified the victims as Anthony J. Stapleton, 43, of Manhattan, and Daniel J. Zuccarini, 42, of Brooklyn.
Zuccarinis father, Daniel Zuccari, was one of the firefighters killed in the attack, according to the FDNY.
The man who was killed was identified as Michael M. Breslow of Manhattan.
“We are saddened to share that the two men who died in the ambush of firefighters from the New Yorker Fire Department were two New Yorkers who were not wearing their badge, the New Yorkers’ family said in a statement.”
They were killed in an ambush by three masked men.

Wednesday, saying that three masked people opened fire on the fire department’s squad car and tried to steal the car.
The tweet was later deleted.
According to the Fire Department, the suspects drove away from the scene in a black, four-door SUV.
A video from inside the vehicle shows two of the masked men firing multiple shots into the car, according the New Jersey Transit Police Department.
The two firefighters died at the scene.
