A spokesperson with the South Florida College System confirmed to ABC News that the fire has been brought under control.
The South Florida campus of Florida International University is on fire after a fight with rival team Florida Gators on Thursday.
The incident was reported around 1:30 p.m.
The Florida team has not confirmed if the fight was a result of a physical altercation or a physical confrontation with a teammate.
According to a news release from the Florida campus, the fight between the two teams happened at a basketball practice.
The fight was initially reported as an incident of an off-court dispute between two opposing players, but a source close to the investigation has confirmed to the Associated Press that there is an active investigation into the fight and the incident.
The university released the following statement:We are working with law enforcement and the UFPD to determine the facts of this incident.
We are grateful for the quick response by all of our students and faculty, and we appreciate their patience.
The South Floridian College system is currently on lockdown.
As we continue to investigate this incident, the safety and well-being of our student and faculty is our top priority.
